Create Your Own DANCE CLASS!
1. Start with the Dance Warm-up video
I was able to make this warm-up video at school before Spring Break. It should look and feel very familiar because it's how we begin every dance class!
There's some yoga, qigong, and aerobic moves along with some deep breaths to get our bodies "re-grounded".
2. Choose a Dance Activity or Challenge

Improvise : Turn on your favorite music and dance however the music "tells" tell you to move.

Do the Wasatch School Dance Challenge or play the "Sleeping Dragon Dance Game" (see below)

Choreograph or Build-a-Dance (see next page)

Explore new dances by finding a dance online and follow along. (I'll post links on the last page.)
3. End with the quiet Cool-Down video
After dancing, play the "Cool-Down video to settle your body, breath, and focus before moving along with your day.

2. Have fun practicing the dance.

3. Videotape yourself dancing the Wasatch School Dance! Be creative here! Do the dance in different rooms of your house, in your yard, up in a treehouse, out in the mountains, wearing a costume . . . ! You can videotape directly using Flipgrid.
4. Share all or parts of your video on Flipgrid.

The SLEEPING DRAGON DANCE GAME!
Fun for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd grades
1. Follow along with the video and play as Ms. Jean teaches the Sleeping Dragon Game: Dance to the rhythm of the sleeping dragon's snore, then freeze in a shape when the dragon wakes up. Don't move or you may become "Dragon Toast"! (It's a fire-breathing dragon, of course!)
2. Now, if you want, you be the teacher!

Choose a few Locomotor Steps (from the Dancer's Tool Box under "Action".)

Choose a few Axial Moves (from the Dancer's Box under "Action", or make up your own axial moves!)

Make different combinations by pairing a Locomotor Step with an Axial Move. Try out your combination!

Choose some Body Shapes (use yoga poses or create your own from the Dancer's Tool Box under "Body".)

Choose a stuffed animal or toy to be the "Sleeping Animal".

Create some Rhythm Instruments for the animal snoring!

Shakers: lidded container with uncooked beans, rice, or ??

Rhythm Sticks: chopsticks, wooden spoons, sticks from outside . . .

Drums: tissue box, wood cutting board, big spoon for the mallet

Body Percussion: tap rhythms with your hands on your chest or on your thighs . . .

3. Invite other people in your home to play along! (Or play with friends on a video calling platform)
